Capital 8
www.capital8.com

Although Capital 8 calls Milwaukee its home, all four band members hearts and minds are scattered throughout the United States.  The sounds and perspectives of their native lands (New York, Cincinnati and Kansas City) have given them a rich tapestry from which to weave their organic pop sound.

The band formed in late 1999.  Capital 8s influences are as varied as the cities in which Mike Christiansen (vocals, guitar), Scott Anthony (guitar), Michelle Anthony (vocals, bass, keyboards, guitar), and John Lucas (drums) were raised.  They cite artists like The Beatles, Liz Phair, R.E.M., Elvis Costello, The Connells, The Replacements, Teenage Fanclub, Old 97s, The Pretenders and Wilco as inspirationfor their own pop landscape.

Capital 8 has release two full length CDs to date, their debut album Reason in May 2001 and Payola in November 2002.  Two songs from their first CD Love in the Title and 100 spent time on MP3.coms pop/rock charts, reaching the top 50 on their national chart.

Capital 8 has headlined multiple shows at Milwaukees premier rock clubs and has played with national acts Mason Jennings and Big Bad Voodoo Daddy.  They have also played the nations largest music festival Milwaukees Summerfest.  The Onion newspaper described the band as avoiding current musical trends and clichs by playing fuzzy, jangly alterna-pop.
